Description

The offshore banks that lie off the coast of Southern California down into Northern Baja, provide us a great opportunity to catch big game fish with a fly rod. From the Coronado Islands for yellowtail and Bonito to the outer offshore banks for yellowfin tuna, yellowtail, and Dorado.

Why take this tour?

Our offshore fishery will consist of searching out the ocean for kelp paddies that can hold yellowtail and Dorado and at times, yellowfin tuna. These paddies give us the chance to find fish that are holding in the upper water column.

On these offshore trips we will be fishing rods that are 10wt up to 13wt, depending on what species and size we are targeting.

All Mako trips include all fly rods, leaders and flies, chum, teasers. No need to bring anything!

Frequently asked questions

We suggest that customers bring there own drinks, lunch, snacks, sunscreen, fishing clothes, hats, boat shoes (that can get wet and bloody), sunglasses.
We guarantee that we will try very hard, but fishing is fishing and we cannot control all the factors that the ocean provides. With that said, our Captains are very good and usually, if they aren’t catching fish, no one is.
Yes, we recommend a cooler with ice to be kept in your car for you to take fish with you after we return to the dock at the end of the day.
The amount of fish vary depending on fish species. We will be fishing for boat limits which is every anglers combined total.
Yes, we will have a kill bag loaded with ice for the fish after they are caught.
The boat accommodates up to 4 anglers. For larger parties, an additional boat can be added.
We purchase live bait the day of that may consist of anchovy, sardine, or mackerel.

Cancellation Policy

A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to book your trip. The 50% balance due is owed prior to departure on the day of the scheduled trip. Trips canceled due to weather will be refunded in full. Cancelations made up to 2 weeks prior to your trip will receive a full refund of the deposit paid...

Trips canceled within 2 weeks will be refunded 50% of the deposit paid and trips canceled within 7 days of your scheduled trip will not receive a refund on deposit.

Seas and Conditions

Be prepared for cool mornings on the run out to the fishery. Recommended to have some lightweight clothing to wear as the day goes on. Average sea conditions can be a little bumpy to having a heavy wind swell. Most winds are in the afternoon and the ride home can be bumpy. Be prepared for all weather conditions.

Food and Beverage

You will need to provide your own food and any beverages besides water. There will be a cooler with ice for you to add your food and beverages to. Please do not bring additional coolers due to space. You can store dry belongings in the cabin but try to minimize what you bring.

Fish Processing

Having your fish processed with a fish processor is the cleanest and best option for fish cleaning. There is fish pick-up provided and we can go direct from boat to delivery. You can pick up fish usually the next day or have it mailed to you if you are traveling.

If you are subject to seasickness or are not sure, please take precautions ahead of time. There are no refunds due to early returns or cancelations due to seas sickness.

Fishing License/Permit Info

1. Valid California fishing license is required for EVERY passenger whether fishing or not. Please have the license in hand prior to arriving at the meeting area. California license can be purchased online prior to the scheduled date.

Tackle/Rods

All tackle and rods are included in the price of the charter. 1 scoop of live bait is provided and additional can be purchased at $35 per scoop. If you are bringing your own equipment please let Capt. Mark knows prior to the trip so he can make room and make sure you're bringing the right gear.
